We know that employment policies must address the transformative changes of digitalization, decarbonization and formalization and must navigate demographic shifts. But there is danger also that, in tackling the challenges and the disruption that we face today, employment objectives – including the objective of achieving decent work for all under Goal 8 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda) – will take a back seat, as has happened too frequently in the past.
